To all concerned about Ms. Greta’s recovery,
As you already know, Greta had surgery today on her hip. Dr. Bruno, a doctor at Animal Medical Center of Lawrenceville, performed the procedure. He is such a compassionate man and this opportunity to operate would not have been possible without his generosity. He called this afternoon to tell me that Greta was waking up from anesthesia and that everything went well. I will find out more when I pick her up either tomorrow or Thursday, depending on how she is recovering. I am also grateful for Dr. Lavell at Pets are People Too in Tucker. She originally treated Greta when I first found her. Dr. Lavell’s commitment to her community was apparent when she assessed Greta. It is always nice seeing the face of kindness just after the face of darkness. What happened to Greta was terrible, but what you all have made possible for her shows the complete opposite side of humanity. She will continue to recover, though these next few weeks will be tough on her. I’ll continue to send updates and some new pictures. She may need another operation in the future since her knee has a torn ACL and her other hip has dysplasia. Her pelvic fracture is healing on its own and the open wound on her leg will need to be treated with antibiotics for a while longer. I can’t wait to get her back and start rehab with her.
Till later, Amy
